Urology

The surgical specialty of Urology deals with conditions affecting the male and female urinary tract (kidneys, bladder, ureters, and urethra), as well as the male reproductive organs (prostate, testes, scrotum, penis).

Urological Conditions

Urological conditions include cancers of the prostate, bladder, testis or kidney. Kidney stones and recurrent bladder infections are other common conditions that patients may experience. Issues relating to erectile dysfunction and male factor infertility are other common conditions that many patients experience.

Symptoms of kidney pain, blood in the urine and urinary symptoms, (altered urinary flow, a sensation of incomplete bladder emptying, urgency to urinate, getting up at night to urinate or passing urine more frequently during the day), are common presenting symptoms.

Urological treatments and interventions if needed are varied and can provide good resolution of symptoms alongside diagnosing or ruling out any serious or worrisome conditions such as cancer. Many urological conditions have the option of treatment with lifestyle measures, tablets, minimally invasive treatments, and minimally invasive surgical interventions reducing the need for lengthy hospital stays and allowing for quick recovery.
